Christmas gifts for Hampshire dogs: thoughtful presents and experiences for 2026

Buying for a dog who already has a basket full of toys? Christmas is a good opportunity to think about what they actually enjoy.
That might be following an interesting scent, exploring somewhere new, settling down with a favourite chew, or spending time with their person.
This Hampshire gift guide brings together locally made presents, independent pet shops and experiences you can enjoy together. There are ideas for different budgets, including one that costs nothing at all.
An early deadline to know: Christmas orders for personalised Chow Bella bowls close on Thursday 5 November 2026.
A little transparency: I’m Claire, the person behind Mutterly Hampshire and the maker at Chow Bella, which is included below.
1. A personalised bowl made in Hampshire

For: a useful present with a personal touch.
A bowl gets used every day, which makes it a lovely choice for someone who prefers practical presents. At Chow Bella, I handcraft ceramic dog and cat bowls in my Hampshire garden studio, with a choice of colours and designs and their name stamped into the clay.
The range includes Ear-Free bowls designed to help keep long spaniel ears out of dinner, alongside other bowl styles. Choose the size and shape to suit the dog, then have fun with the colour.
Order by Thursday 5 November for Christmas. Each personalised bowl needs time for making, drying, firing and glazing, so this is the gift to organise first.
2. A mantrailing introduction for a dog who loves using their nose

For: the dog who finds every walk full of fascinating clues.
Mantrailing teaches a dog to follow a particular person’s scent to find them at the end of a trail. Their human comes along as the other half of the team. It’s a chance to try something together and see their nose at work.
Dog Scout Training offers introductory mantrailing sessions near Alresford. Its advertised introduction is £85 per team, comprising one dog and up to three handlers aged 12 or over. Dogs work away from the others, which makes it a great option for dogs who find conventional group classes difficult.
Other local businesses offering mantrailing include Walkies with Kat and Paws In The Pink.
Before buying, speak to the trainer about the dog’s needs, how waiting between turns works, and suitable dates. If this is a gift for someone else, ask about gifting a booking rather than assuming a voucher is available.
3. A private field session, with room to explore

For: the dog who enjoys space without unfamiliar dogs joining in.
A field booking can be a thoughtful present: time to sniff, explore, play or simply potter with their person. There’s no requirement to spend the whole session running around.
Stubbington Ark’s Ark Park offers one-hour field gift vouchers for £10, helping support the animals in its care. The field allows a maximum of three dogs, and the booking includes a five-minute changeover period.
Check the field’s fencing, access, ground conditions and rules against the needs of the dog you’re buying for. A voucher also lets their person choose a suitable day.
4. A small hamper chosen at an independent pet shop

For: the dog with very definite opinions about treats and toys.
Instead of a big selection box with things they won’t use, put together a few favourites: a familiar treat, an appropriate chew and a toy that suits how they like to play.
Hampshire has plenty of independent shops worth exploring:
Sid and Lola in Four Marks, Alton: a small, independent shop with natural foods, treats and pet supplies.
Grovely Pets in Alton and Brockenhurst: shops stocking foods, treats and accessories, with gifts among their ranges.
Pet Pantry in Winchester: an independent, family-owned pet store.
You can set your own budget and choose each item with the individual dog in mind. If you’re buying for someone else’s dog, check dietary restrictions and toy preferences with their person first. Ask shops about current stock before making a special journey.
5. A scentwork session to start a new shared hobby

For: a dog who enjoys searching and a person who would like to learn alongside them.
Scentwork involves searching for a target, such as a particular odour, rather than following a person’s trail. A good introduction builds the game in manageable steps and gives the human plenty to learn too.
SE Dog Academy runs scentwork classes in Hampshire. Ask about a beginner session, price and whether you can arrange it as a gift.
A private session may be worth exploring if a group environment doesn’t suit your dog. Discuss their comfort around people, dogs and new places before booking, and choose reward-based teaching that lets them progress at their own pace.
6. A photography voucher for the person behind the camera

For: someone whose phone is full of dog photos, but who is rarely in any of them.
This one is mainly a present for the human, but a well-chosen session can include an enjoyable outing for the dog too.
Emily Helen Pawtraits, based in Portsmouth, offers gift vouchers towards sessions, prints and other products.
Before buying, check what your budget covers: a session fee and finished images may be separate purchases. Talk to the photographer about a setting and approach that will suit the dog, particularly if they need space or time to get comfortable.
7. A day planned entirely around their favourite things

For: any dog—and any budget.
Write your own voucher for an unhurried outing together. It could be a familiar woodland walk with plenty of sniffing stops, a quiet trip with a favourite dog friend, or some gentle searching games at home followed by a comfortable snooze.
The important part is choosing what that dog enjoys. A sociable dog might love an outing with company; another might prefer a peaceful hour with just their person. There’s no need to fill the day with activities or make it somewhere new.
It might not fit under the tree, but it is still a gift worth giving.
Choose the gift to suit the dog
Think about what they choose to do when they have the opportunity: sniff, search, play, explore or rest. That’s a useful starting point for a present they’ll actually enjoy.
If you’re buying an experience for someone else, agree it with them before committing to dates. Check suitability, voucher terms, what’s included and any extra costs directly with the provider.
And if a personalised Chow Bella bowl is on your list, remember to order by 5 November for Christmas.
Provider information and advertised prices checked on 31 October 2026. Availability, prices and terms may change; confirm directly before purchasing. Chow Bella’s Christmas deadline is supplied by the maker.
